I've been using these shoes for 3-4 weeks now and I've conducted 3 tests for the shoe, with a score between 1-5.
1st Test - Flat Surface Run. Here I give the shoe a 3..5. I supinate when running and there wasn't sufficient cushioning for my gait and after 3 miles I began to "feel" the run. At the time of this test, it was the very first run I the shoe. With more running times, it takes longer before I "feel" the run. On my last 7 mile flat run I began to have that sensation around mile 6.
2nd Test - Crossfit Training Session. Here I give the shoe a solid 4.5. Why not a 5? As I was performing Burpees, Mt. Climbers and similar exercises, I found the shoe didn't grip as much as I would have liked.
3rd Test - Water/Terrain. Here I give the shoe a 5. Ran in & out of water followed by Rock climbs and similar obstacles found in a races. The shoe performed as expected, the water drained quickly out of the shoe, along with any earth and traction/grip was maintained..
Overall I give the shoe a 4.5 and would recommend it for Obstacle Course Races. I look forward to putting them through their final test when I run The Florida Super Spartan this weekend.
Rated 5 out of 5Â by WytheSpartan Amazing shoe for a Spartan run.
This shoe exceeded all my expectations. Even though I could have stood a half size smaller, it excelled all day at Charlotte Sprint at Porter Farms. I will not run another Spartan without this shoe. Worth every penny.

Wow!!! I have owned many sneakers, but these are perfectly designed for getting down and dirty. I love the superior grip and the holes to allow water to escape. These are real winners.

Finally received my All Terrain Supers on Wednesday and ran my 1st Spartan Sprint on Sunday in the rain. Totally blown away on how much traction I was getting as I passed everyone going up and down the muddy hills. The water ports worked awesome even with the amount of mud throughout my shoes. The shoes did feel a little long, I probably should have ordered a half size smaller but never had a problem with my shoes wanting to pull off or feeling loose in the heel. If you run obstacle races, you need to get a pair of Supers. Reebok did it again by building another great purpose driven shoe.
Rated 5 out of 5Â by ATXWeirdo Great Shoe, Very glad I bought them
I competed in my first obstacle race this past saturday 3/22/14. I was nervous & excited at the same time. I heard about these shoes online & ordered them as soon as possible. Getting these shoes made all the difference in the world. From the very first water obstacle, other people were jokingly complaining about having to run with 5 pound shoes for the rest of the race. These shoes were completely drained within my first 3 steps out of the water. Im not kidding. Later on in the race, we had another water obstacle and since we were one of the last waves to go, the bank on the other side was completely slick, at about a 45-60 degree angle. Nothing but slick mud. The guy behind me couldnt get out of the water, he was yelling at his friend to come help. He had zero traction on the mud bank. I turned around, gripped in with my cleats, and pulled him right out. I'll never run an obstacle race without these shoes. I HIGHLY recommend them,. Thanks Reebok !!!
Rated 4 out of 5Â by ccfd0401 runs 1/2 size long but feels purpose built for OCR
Total anticipation until the box arrived and pleasantly surprised to see a very purpose built OCR shoe. The water channels appear in the perfect locations, and the abrasive toe cover will be useful for some toe protection. The cleats are of a soft enough material they actually grip on very slick material like tile. I wear a 9.5 mens in just about everything: Width was spot on and felt my heal lock into place with a good kick , rest of foot very comfortable in shaped insoles, but it was definitely a half size too long allowing foot to slide out of heal plate and move front to back. With a bit of experience trying to make a slightly large shoe work and receiving poor results along with tortured feet, I will not be using these for my fast approaching race. Sadly they had to be returned and this review must stop short.
I would like to finish this review with a race trial in a men size 9 but no one can seem to locate any.
Rated 4 out of 5Â by SpartanRunner Very Good Shoe
Shoes arrived Thursday, wore the shoes all day Friday to race the Spartan Sprint on Saturday in Charlotte. I replaced the shoe strings with the Lock Laces because that is what I use for street running. This is the only thing I changed. Course was muddy and I had less issues than those in OTHER shoes even trail shoes. I like them and learned a lot about them. Shoes drain well and had a lot of traction where others were slipping. Need to wear them tighter as there was a little heel slip however I feel this was due more to them being brand new. Will definitely use them in October at the Carolina Spartan Beast. Will wear longer sock next time because I rubbed the back of my heel raw which is probably not cause by the shoe per say but my choice of socks.

Like everyone I immediately bought into the hype of a Spartan specific shoe. I logged onto Reebok.com on March 16, noticed that the shipping date was March 17, and immediately ordered too excited to care about the high price. I assumed if it was such an amazing shoe it would be worth the price. After all, you can't put a price on quality.
By Match 19 I still had not received a shipping confirmation so I called Reebok. A very nice customer service rep informed me that the release date was pushed back to April 1. I was planning on racing April 5 at the Vegas Spartan Super and wanted to break in the shoes before racing. When I asked why the date was pushed back she informed me the shoes were not yet manufactured. I wasn't buying that excuse. After speaking to 3 supervisors in 3 departments someone finally "found" a pair and they were shipped out over night.
As far as the shoe...it's comfortable, fit true to size, and I was left blister-free post race. All good thing!! However the shoe did not perform as expected on the obstacles. I slipped on the walls and could feel every stone I stepped on. Perhaps it was due to the terrain difference (the Vegas race was in a dry gravel out as opposed to most races in mud and water). Either way I was disappointed from the beginning. Hopefully others had better experiences.

I picked these up a month before the Las Vegas Super Spartan race. I am 6'4" and weight 250#. The fit well, a little large in the toe box, I wear a size 14 shoe. They are comfortable and felt good during the race, great gripping on the hills, sand and mud. Water draining was good. They do collect a fair amount of small rocks and fine sand, but nothing more than all the other shoes out there. I will be adding a thicker sole insert due to my weight, as these are designed for lighter folks. They are very light and gripped very well. Recommended to others looking for a good race shoe with good bite on the walls, hills and muck.

I had read all the preview reviews I could find out there, but I still had inklings when I ordered these. With a 5k obstacle course run through mud, climbing, crawling, and a good bit of running, I wanted to break them in quickly. I was unable to get on the trails before the race, but I wore them for three 2-hour ultimate frisbee practices with them. While the shoes weren't built like cleats, they held up with good traction on the turf.
Finally on Saturday, I did my obstacle course run and they worked perfectly. It had been raining all week, so the drainage really had the opportunity to be showcased. I can't wait to do my longer OCRs and see just how well these were designed.
Rated 5 out of 5Â by MoJo52 Order your true size!
I read on another website to order the Spartan Super a half size big. DON'T do it! I ordered a size 11.0 in blue from Reebok to test the other company's advice and it fit exactly like an 11.0 on my size 10.5 dogs. Sent them back a couple weeks ago with absolutely no guff. Last night, I hopped on Reebok.com and what to my wondering eyes should appear, but a size 10.5 in the Red/Yellow Super! Reebok has already refunded the first pair and the second shipped today. I am stoked to get these and start training for real in some sloppy conditions in preparation for a Spartan Beast in June!
Rated 5 out of 5Â by VaibhavBhat An undeniable 10/10.
Absolutely the best OCR/Terrain shoe out there. In an OCR shoe, one looks for many things. It must be light, it must be water-resistant, it must be sturdy & protective, and it must have good tread to conquer any terrain. This has all of them, and it is amazingly comfortable- to the point where if you run on concrete, it feels like you're floating. If you run on mountain terrain (intended purpose), it doesn't hurt your feet at all. Great shoe, definitely my new shoe for all Elite Spartan races.
Rated 5 out of 5Â by Geoff1990 Strong Shoe
I normally do not do these but I felt that I needed to for this shoe. I wore this shoe in some sloppy conditions this past weekend during Savage Race and it performed really well. I was able to get grip in some of the worst mud while other contestants were slipping and falling all around me. When we had to wade through water the shoes worked perfectly. You could feel them fill up and then drain out within minutes of exiting the water. They did not impress me on a steep angle of plywood that we had to run up but that may have been operator error so we will see this weekend when I use them again for Mud Endeavor.
Rated 4 out of 5Â by ChristopherOCR Great base model on which to build
Drainage, rock guards, traction and overall design prove to be a great product in the making. The initial fit of this shoe seemed uncomfortable owing to the high, inflexible, overly curved backs and a improperly placed standard lacing with cheap laces. But the rest of the shoe is near perfect. Lower the backs and use a more forgiving material without sacrificing strength and align the lacing to that of a brooks pure flow 2 and you have the perfect OCR shoe.
Rated 4 out of 5Â by John117 Performs well in rough terrain, some fit issues.
Overall these shoes are great, like most people buying I plan to use them for Spartan Race. I tested them out on a 1/2 marathon trail run that was decently wet and muddy due to recent rain. The shoes held up well through puddles and creeks, steep hills and downgrades, packed dirty and mud, smooth rocks and paved roads. Water drainage, support, and protection from rocks was great. They run a bit narrow, so keep that in mind. Also, the back rides high and cups your Achilles which can also result in some significant rubbing, I'll be spending at least a week waiting for the skin to patch up on both feet. Recommend wearing high rising socks or taping up your ankles to prevent this.
Rated 5 out of 5Â by UncleB Exactly what they say they are SPARTAN READY
Been in the market for shoes that would hold up to the demand of obstacle / mud runs. I saw the video and felt compelled to grab a pair. At first impression they are lighter than all the other shoes I have tried which is very nice. The light material looks and feels very durable which is also very nice. Like all new shoes break them in a bit before taking on that 5 or 10k. If you aren't used to running in these shoes, or style of running shoe, you need to know how it will effect your muscles. Overall very happy with the purchase, love the shoes and recommend them to everyone who is in the market for a shoe.
Rated 5 out of 5Â by Jaime209 As Advertised
After very little break in time, the shoes were comfortable and responsive. The aggressive tread provides plenty of grip on the trail and good enough grip to use as a road runner.
After going through a 10mi mud run, the shoes preformed as advertised. Water shed very quickly and obstacles such as walls and beams were nicely gripped by the toe cleat and mid sole. The cleats in particular gave an added sense of forward propulsion off road that I've only found in dedicated sport shoes (baseball, football, soccer cleats etc).
Afterwards, the shoes washed off nicely, and though they still look like they've been through a torture test. They also look like they handled it with flying colors and are ready for round two.
Rated 4 out of 5Â by JG5x5 Handles whatever I have thrown at it
Got these shoes because I am an avid participant in mud/obstacle races and got tired of having to throw out shoes that couldn't survive the rigors of the events. These shoes are great. I have used them in mud, sand, dirt, on rocks, and even on trails. They are supremely comfortable and my traction is always incredible. The upper kind of bows out on the outside of the foot when laced, but I presume that is the cost of having such a light yet stiff material. They clean off really easily, and definitely hold their own in whatever element they're put into. I can't say enough good things about them. AROO
Rated 4 out of 5Â by ZChamp15 Overall good but lacking
The shoe color and design awesome. I was most surprised with the H2O drain after running through shin high water in a matter of steps all the water was gone and my foot felt relatively dry. Occasionally mud would get stuck I'm the ports but again after a few good steps the mud cleared right out.
My biggest grief with the shoes is the traction/grip on the walls is horrible! You expect that with a trail shoe with lugs that big but when you advertise as it getting good grip on walls and in reality your foot just slips right down the wall, and leaves you to straight jumping over an 8ft wall gets tiring.
Although I rather give up wall traction to have dry feet but to get both would make this show AMAZING !
Rated 3 out of 5Â by LITTLEbeast I HAD HIGHER EXPECTATIONS ...
I just competed in the Las Vegas Super. I'm working on my third tri-fecta just to give you an idea of how often i do spartan races... I had really high expectations for these shoes. They said they where spartan approved, however i had a different experience. Given that the terrain was very rocky and had lots of sand and dirt, 4 times during the race i had to remove my shoes because they filled up with rocks, and little gravel that got under my feet. The low cut design allowed my shoes to keep filling up with stuff, especially trough the sides. After the obstacle called " the gamble " (around mile 4), three other people all wearing these same shoes where doing exactly what i was... Removing them to empty all the gravel that got inside... it was pathetic!!! I'm still going to give these shoes one more chance in another setting. The Monterey BEAST is just around the corner.
Granted, i understand that reebok, is not going to get it right the first time around. so hopefully they take into account these little details that would make these shoes truly AWSOME.
Rated 1 out of 5Â by Jamster83 Back to the drawing board
First off I was extremely excited for this shoe and wanted to try it out at a Super I signed up for. Going into my purchase I know Reebok goes narrow with their shoes but I had high hopes I would have a better experience since there was no extra widths. So I got my pair in and after taking them out of the box and laced them up. I was a bit let down on the fit because since my wide foot the laces laced up and pulled the midsole up weird around my foot. I tried not to feel discouraged because I knew I had time to break in my shoes. Once I got out to the trails I noticed the shoe gives a weird rubbery 'ffflip' sound when you walk or run. I can't tune this out because I'm a runner who doesn't run with music so again I think to myself it'll work itself out in time. Oh and the shoe also gave me a blister on my Achilles tendon. So day 2 I tried the shoe again but with same dissatisfaction and made up my mind I had to send them back. This was my experience but I'm sure there are others out there very satisfied with their purchase. I just hope Reebok can sell this shoe with wide feet people in mind and maybe work out the rubbery floppy sound as well.

Got these to use on spartan races this year and so far have been pleased with them. The tread is great and quite grippy mud doesn't seem to adhere to it and drops off easily. The drainage holes are great. Love knowing that as I come out water obstacles, they'll drain quickly. I hate running in squishy shoes. They are not too heavy either. I usually buy a little bigger for these types of shoes to keep from blistering my toes. These feel a little big and slightly narrow but neither affect the overall comfort of the shoe. If there is a bad, it'd be that the uppers feel "plasticy" when you step. Like you can feel the material bending. Guess that's why they're water resistant though. Great shoe!
Rated 4 out of 5Â by lamamama Very good for obstacles & running.
I've used these shoes for obstacles similar to Spartan Sprint obstacles and they did well. I couldn't 'grab' the rope as well as I had hoped when rope climbing, but that may be due to my lack of experience. I also have run on leafy, rocky, and muddy trails and they did very well. Haven't put myself through deep muddy water yet, so cannot comment on that. I'm no spring chicken (but as was said in Spam-a-Lot, "not dead yet!") and have always had weak ankles. I'm also an EMT and volunteer fire fighter so I cannot afford to sprain my ankles (or worse), so any shoe I use for terrain running has to be solid. So far my Supers have met those expectations. So I'm looking forward them working magic at the Sprint in Indy
Rated 4 out of 5Â by Albyk1 Suggestions/Upgrade to shoe
I wore the shoes for first time over the weekend on 7 mile Trail run and they held up well and comfortable to run in... will be running in Spartan Super this coming weekend and may have further thoughts, but off the bat - only thing I would suggest is the shoelace system should be a bit different. These shoelaces cannot be "tucked into" anything - similar to what many trail running shoes can do these days - and I can envision the laces getting "caught" on the barbwire or similar during a Spartan Race, which would be quite disappointing considering they are being marketed as the "Spartan" shoe.
Definitely looking forward to utilizing the shoe in several Spartan events the remainder of the year!
Rated 3 out of 5Â by ToughMudder182 Big shoes to fill
Shoe looks/feels like football shoe: light, water jets good, traction great but shoe size is issue. Shoe is too big and should be fitted by Reebok to correct size + needs better ankle support. I tried using ankle brace but that let in tiny rocks. I tried larger sock and fitment good but still trapped little rocks. Still puzzled by odd black scuff marks on driveway while testing shoes. Overall kept shoes for upcoming Hard Charge/Tough Mudder, as needed new pair. I would not recommend these for those with ankle issues and recommend Rebook change to one size smaller size.
Rated 3 out of 5Â by ryanho THe shoe held up well but takes on a lot of sand and rocks. I had to stop several times to dump out debris.
Rated 5 out of 5Â by SpartanSean Great product meeting a unique need
I just ran this shoe through the event in which it was named after and I think they did a great job of making an obstacle course shoe. Many times on the course I saw people sliding up and down hills or on muddy pools, none of that affected me at all. I could stop on a hill, run through any muddy pools; they are like baseball cleats that drain all the water moments after you exit the water. They have aggressive traction that does make me wary of wearing them for anything other than off-road obstacle course races as I don't want to wear down my tread unnecessarily.
Rated 2 out of 5Â by sector9cruiser Too Narrow Had to Return
Unfortunately I was unable to wear these shoes; I found them to be extremely narrow. I am a regular participant in obstacle races and have run 6 tough mudders in 3 years as well as the "Walking Dead Experience" race. I did all but one of these races in New Balance minimus shoes and was extremely satisfied. However, when I saw the promotion material for these shoes circulating through the various OCR groups I follow on the internet I was super excited and I love to experiment with new gear. My feet are slightly on the wide side but I have never in my life had to purchase "wide" sized shoes. When my Reebok Terrain Supers arrived I found them to be far too narrow and could barely get my foot into them. Once I did the sides of the tongue gaped exposing my foot and my foot was far outside the footprint of the sole. The shoes looked great and I certainly would have loved to race in them and put them through their paces but I simply couldn't . My advice is if you have a wide or even slightly wide foot avoid this shoe; unless such a time as they offer a "wide" version as I said I've never had to buy "wide" shoes and these were just too narrow for me. Now I have purchased a new pair of NB Minimus in a regular width and they fit just fine. I hope one day I will be able to try these shoes too.
Rated 2 out of 5Â by GVJames Do not buy into the hype
After running in the Vegas Super Spartan 9+mile and a 6 mile training trail run plus a few boot camp classes I feel I can give a truthful review of the Reebok All terrain shoe. Also I have 5 friends who also rushed out to get this shoe and I will relay what they said.
My first impression out of the box was wow, great looking, lite weight and fit was perfect. Shoe looked like it would handle the trails and mud fantastic.
First day at my obstacle course boot camp, felt great running on pavement, comfortable slick on smooth concrete but very slippery on walls like a 8'. The shoe was no help getting over walls, started to worry me about Spartan race but knowing that it is mostly running and a shoe is a tool the trade off might be fine.
At the 6 mile trail run the shoe felt real good, I ran a little faster time than the previous run two weeks prior (not the same shoe) even though I did not feel as well while running. The lugs gripped the loose gravel great down hill and felt right going up hill. I did get a blister on my heal. Noticed the tongue slipping way over exposing my entire sock but had to adjust the tongue several times.
AT the LV Super Spartan the shoe was great in mud, felt good on the rocky miles we ran and was fine on most obstacles while knowing I would have issues with the walls and I did. The shoe does fit loose letting rocks and sand in the shoe more than it should even though I used the extra lace hole that does help! I am sure most racers had some issue with rocks and sand at this event but I saw more than a few wearing the Reebok spartan shoe stopping to empty rocks and sand. My friend I ran with only had to empty because I did, she would have been fine. She shoe lace is very lite and hard to untie so stopping 3 time was a pain.
As for my 5 other friends who bought the shoe (I run with a hard core group our team came in second at this event) only 1 was happy with the shoe. I really do not think the shoe will hold up well, the material is almost see through and I can see issues already!
I did do a pre-order from Reebok so that is why I was able to get the shoe so early. I would say if you like a minimal shoe (5mm drop) you might like the shoe. Like I said they did feel nice running but with all the shortcoming's these shoes and being hyped as the SPARTAN shoe I can only give them a 2 star. They will be on e-bay while I look for a better shoe.
Rated 5 out of 5Â by InTrainging feels like a running shoe grips like a hiking shoe
I'm in training for the Spartan race, been looking for the perfect shoe and found this one. It was sold out in my size for four weeks, but I checked daily and found it came along late one night so I bought it immediately. Other reviews indicated that the shoe ran a half size too long, I'm typically an 11.5 in a sneaker, so I bought a size 11. I have been training in the shoe for about a week now and the shoe fits perfectly, feels comfortable, and looks great too. I have been trail running with the shoe several times now and like the way it grips the trail and provides traction in all directions. It is light yet feels durable. The laces stay tied even with a single knot, and I can feel air flowing through the shoe keeping my foot cool. Haven't gotten them wet yet, but I am quite pleased with the show so far.
